Techno Girl

Inspired by the resurfacing Y3K/cybercore aesthetic in campaigns from the late ’90s and early 2000s, I created an animated music with that style. I began by animating to a 120 BPM metronome track, roughing out movements for a character design before expanding the piece into 3 shots and angles. In After Effects, I built a holographic environment using animated gradients, particle effects, chromatic aberration, and other effects. I layered the animated scenes together with subtle motion keyframes and different blending modes to create a dream-like visual. Once that was complete, I tested different songs against the animation until I found a track that matched the energy and pacing of the piece.
